Founded in 1945 and headquartered in Pettenbach, Austria., by Günter Fronius. The company has stood for intensive research and the constant search for new, innovative solutions. Their state-of-the-art products have received numerous international awards for innovation, environmental stewardship and best practices. 

Fronius has been a key manufacturer of photovoltaic electronics since 1993, particularly in the engineering and manufacturing of photovoltaic inverters for both grid-connected and independent power supplies. In 2001, in their hometown, Fronius opened a state-of-the-art facility – solidifying their commitment to the EU and their practice for investing locally.

In 2007, they launched the famed IG Plus series, featuring greater technology and including many advantages and higher maximum earnings security in a diverse set of weather conditions. In 2012, The company moved to its new headquarters in Portage, Indiana. The near 400,000 ft² facility would be the future production site of its Solar Energy Division.

From 2013 and beyond Fronius has begun to accelerate their efforts of expanding their PV inverter product lines and solutions, effectively encompassing a higher market share of solar energy systems using Fronius technology. Releasing multiple product lines (SnaInverter, FE, Primo, Symo), Fronius is now (and remains) a top contender for inverter solutions in the United States and worldwide.
