*Panasonic Corporation headquarters in Osaka, Japan. Founded March 13th 1918 in Osaka, Japan., by founder Konosuke Matsushita. Panasonic was formerly known as ‘Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.’ (1918-2008). In 1918, they began as a vendor of duplex lamp sockets. In 1927, they began producing bicycle lamps, the first product which it marketed under the brand name “National”. In 1961, the company began producing television sets for the U.S. market under the Panasonic brand name, and expanded the use of the brand to Europe in 1979. The company debuted a hi-fidelity audio speaker in Japan in 1965 with the brand Technics. Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, Panasonic continued to produce high-quality specialized electronics for niche markets. In 1983, they created the first fully IBM PC compatible Japanese-made computer. During the 2000’s and beyond, Panasonic as gained footing in the global market for numerous achievements as a tier one manufacturer in all markets they serve. Notably, In July 2014, it was announced that Panasonic has reached a basic agreement with Tesla Motors to participate in the Gigafactory, the huge battery plant that the American electric vehicle manufacturer plans to build in the U.S. In August 2014, Tesla said the plant would be built in the Southwest or Western United States by 2020. The $5 billion plant would employ 6,500 people, and reduce Tesla's battery costs by 30 percent. Since 1975, Panasonic Eco Solutions (Panasonic Solar), has been researching, developing, and delivering high quality, high efficiency world leader solar panels. They began by creating the amorphous solar cell. In 1980, they began the world's first commercial production of amorphous silicon solar cells. In 1992, They produced Japan's first installation of an on-grid photovoltaic power generating system for residential use. 1994, Their Photovoltaic system for residential use marketed. 1997, They started mass-production and sales of HIT series PV modules. In 2001, ‘SOLAR ARK” was conceived. Solar Ark is one of the world's largest photovoltaic power generating systems, completed at Gifu Plant. 2004, HIT photovoltaic module / Nishikinohama Factory (Osaka prefecture), Started mass production of modules. 2008, Shiga factory started production of modules. 2009, SANYO Solar of Oregon L.L.C was found. The company started production of Solar ingot and wafers. 2013/2014, HIT series achieved the world's highest cell conversion efficiency of 25.6% at R&D level. They also achieved 1 billion solar cell production for HIT solar panels.
